Information

Education- Preparing for your future!

You will gain fundamental knowledge regarding food, raw ingredients, consumption and gain the necessary timing and grip of the kitchen. Furthermore, you will gain insight into various fields, such as health, sustainability, and design, in order to create a sound framework for your life.

There are elective courses available that can help you qualify for a job after the course, or that can simply help you in your future career search. Other elective courses focus on achieving a better lifestyle. You pick the elective courses that you want to focus on, and it’s up to you what you want to gain from this experience.

The course is divided into mandatory classes and your elective courses, with teaching five days a week in the time period 9 to 15:30.

All courses are taught in Danish; therefore it is imperative that you have a fair understanding of the Danish language. However, our students are fairly well spoken in the English language, and much of the course work will be done in groups or on excursions where the assignments also will be solved in groups.

Culinary Journeys – Meet the World!

We will be partaking in some culinary field trips during the course. Before these trips there is extensive research into the proposed country’s culinary traditions and culture. On the trips there will be visits to small specialty stores and markets.

We will of course also be visiting restaurants, but never forgetting to practice all what we have learned by cooking ourselves!

Social Aspect – New Friends and Exciting Adventures!

You can choose whether to be a day student (with classes from 9 till 15:30) or you can choose to live at the school as a “boarding school student”. Regardless of your choice, you will be able to eat all your meals at the school.

In your spare time there will be opportunities to take part in various activities outside school hours. For example, there is a running club at the school, you can partake in a course on how to make candy, join the film and book club, you can learn to brew beer, or join our choir!

Practical Information:

The course runs for from 6 to 44 weeks. You can choose either to be a day student, or a “boarding school student”. There are rooms available for students to live in the cozy townhouse beside the school. You need to understand and speak danish to attend a course at the school since all of the classes are thought in danish.

Cost:

Prices per week during the school year 2011:

  • Day student: 875 kr. pr. week.

The total amount covers the price of the courses, the raw ingredients used, the cost of excursions, materials, meals, and numerous field trips. All students will receive the cookbook Mad, a t-shirt, and an apron. The total amount does not cover individual materials in the course Textiles and Design, and some of the field trips.

There will be culinary field trips during both the spring and autumn course. This extra travelling expense will be paid as an extra course payment, with payment being made in three installments. The trip will cost about DKK 4.500.

We can in special cases give economic support to students, whose own economic situation would otherwise prevent them from partaking in the course. For this to happen the student must fill out a form that is available at the school. This form is to be handed in to the office before the course starts.
